Position: Head of Traineeships & Study Programme
Location: St Helens / Liverpool
Supporting young people in to work or various forms of opportunities is a huge topic currently. With the impacts of Covid, a lot of young people find themselves with limited job opportunities. On the flip side, the £millions being pumped into schemes such a Traineeships is there to fix this, however many providers are having to set up and mobilise traineeship provisions from scratch.
How about taking the lead in a role where provisions supporting young people such as Traineeships and Study programmes are already set up?
The previous incumbent of the role spent 10+ years with the organisation, and they have seen Year on year growth (bar the last 12 months) which has seen the provision rise from £150k funding spend to just shy of £1m.
That length of tenure is also not unique within this organisation. Many of it's members boast similar lengths of employment. This comes down to the level of support and investment that is put into the business from board level. Most of the mid-senior team have been allowed to progress and develop within the business.
Talking of which, in this role you will have 4 direct reports - all of which are high performing, so we are certainly looking for a People Manager here. You will have oversight of all the provisions, but we also want you to let the managers continue to perform and have that day to day authority providing they are continuing to push for the wider vision of the business. Below the 4 direct, you will have circa 24 indirect reports.
Knowledge of Ofsted & ESFA is vital for this role, along with experience of working on contracts/provisions that support young people into employment and training such as Traineeships and Study programmes. AEB experience would be great here also but not essential, it's the Traineeship and young peoples career development that is key.
You will also have oversight on employer relations and other external stakeholders. Colleges, local authorities etc across St Helens and Liverpool.
Within the role, innovation is highly encouraged. The business are happy to support new links/partnerships/collaboration that can increase support to your learners whilst growing the business further.
The role is available now and we plan on interviewing early May. The role will include agile working, with 3-4 days office based so you'll need to be commutable to St Helens. Along with 26 days holiday, staff bonuses, CPD, and Management development.
