Head of Functional Skills
It's not often these roles come along, especially a role with such scope and for an employer like this. So, if you managed functional skills provisions before and are looking for that next step - read on
You'll be working with a training provider who have both 'Main Provider' and 'Employer provider' status. A smaller business (circa 20 heads), they formed a few years ago, and it's in the past few years, despite covid, that they've really flourished and grown.
Winning employers contracts, and gain main provider status has really allowed them to excel.
Their own hiring strategy is unique compared to most FE providers also, in the fact that they look to hire from both inside and outside of the education sphere. This role will naturally be someone who is thoroughly experienced in the world of FE and Apprenticeships, but the wider business boasts a good mix of education and commercial L&D staff, both from an SME and corporate stand point.
They have a good team balance, ultimately people stay and they stay for good reasons - well paid (up to £45k for this one plus car allowance) hybrid working, very social and inclusive team from top to bottom.
So more on the role …
You'll be leading a small team which currently stands at 4 tutors and admin - this is set to grow imminently - and you'll encompass all the normal responsibilities that come with leading a team; recruitment, performance management, quality, standardisation etc etc, and you'll be reporting directly in to the MD yourself.
As mentioned above, this provider delivers contracts as an Employer provider, offering functional skills support and provision. Along with their own Apprenticeship portfolio as a main provider.
Your task is to ensure quality functional skills provisions across both of these.
You will be tasked with the development, and updating of functional skills curriculums across the business.
You will implement and continuously evaluate the functional skills strategy across both the Employer, and Main provider provisions; ensuring robust standards are put in place to manage quality and maintain levels for QIP and SAR inspections.
Collaboration will be key for this role also.
Externally, you may find yourself engaged with the end employers to demonstrate how functional skills can be incorporated in to their business using clear dashboards so they can see progress of the staff/learners.
Internally, you will work closely with your other heads of departments/curriculums in order to ensure synergy across the business and other programmes being delivered.
This role will offer hybrid working, but you'll need to have access to central London as will be working closely with the senior team and typically spend 2-3 days a week in office (this is flexible in line with business and personal requirements).
The role offers equal doses of attraction from the employer you'd work with, to the scope and scale of the role.
Available now, and looking for a Q1 start for 2022.
