Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor
Package: Associate £100 per session / Full time employed £24-£26k
location: Wakefield

To be upfront, this role poses an unusual training schedule, as you'd be required to deliver training between 3-6pm during the week. So the role is in every sense part time, but we are open to someone working as an associate or employed, and you'd be working 3-5 days a week. Where as, we are also looking for someone on a full time basis as well. This of course would be full days Monday to Friday, and you'd still deliver the classroom sessions between those times, but you will also develop material, and coach & mentor learners on a one to one basis.

So why do we need training delivered at such specific hours?

The training provider focus on delivering training programmes to the utilities market. Specifically in Smart Metering, and Electrical Vehicle, which are two of their flagship programmes. These programmes are a mix of theoretical training, and hands on practical guidance to ensure that learners are 'work ready' but the time they complete the course.
Much of the main function of their programme is delivered during 9-3pm Monday to Friday, and the learners come up for block weeks from all over the country - so they are quite intense weeks of training. As part of the Apprenticeship or funded learning programmes, Functional Skills is still a major element of the training as we all know and as such the learners are required to pass these elements as well. The trainers on the utility side, are ex engineers/installers so have fantastic practical and hands on knowledge, but are not expert functional skills tutors hence why we separate the roles.

You will be working with adult learners mainly, but junior learners will still be included. All of whom will be undertaking programmes in Gas, Plumbing, Electrical and Smart Metering, all looking to become fully qualified in their trade.

The sessions will be classroom based, you will be experienced at delivering Functional Skills Maths and English to level 2 or above, and qualified to deliver such courses (PTLLS, or equivalent, or Assessor qualified).

Work is available immediately.
